This is an original mixed media painting by David John.
This painting combines bold geometric precision with vibrant abstract energy but leans more into contrast and layering. The structure sits on top like a framework, cutting through the surface and breaking everything into smaller sections, while underneath it’s a mix of loose marks, colour and texture that came together instinctively, “Chaos into Geometry”.
There was no fixed idea going into this one. It built up over time, layer by layer, reacting to what was already there. Some areas feel busier and more chaotic, others a bit more open, and that balance only really comes from letting it develop naturally rather than forcing it.
Calligraphy plays a bigger role here, with more visible fragments running through the background, but like the rest of my work, it’s not about being easily read, It’s more about capturing thoughts as they come, then letting them fade back into the piece so only parts remain.
As always, I’m not trying to push a single meaning, it’s there to be looked at, taken in, and interpreted in your own way. This painting is perfect for modern interiors, with the balance between order and chaos making it a captivating focal point for any space.
