THIS IS LONDON CALLING explores connection, communication, and the countless stories that intersect within a city. Beneath the surface of everyday life are layers of experience, memory, and human interaction, constantly crossing paths, overlapping, and leaving their mark.

Like all of my work, this piece was created without a predetermined plan. There were no sketches or fixed ideas, just an instinctive process of building layers and responding to what was happening on the canvas. Each mark influenced the next, allowing the composition to develop naturally and find its own direction.

The geometric framework creates a network of pathways that guide the eye through the painting, while vibrant layers of colour and fragmented calligraphy emerge from beneath the surface. Some elements appear clear and defined, while others remain partially hidden, echoing the way conversations, memories, and experiences can evolve over time.

Ultimately, this painting is an invitation to pause and explore the layers within. To look beyond the obvious, follow the pathways, and discover your own connections. I don’t offer a fixed narrative or definitive meaning. Instead, I create a space where personal memories and interpretations can shape each viewer’s experience in their own way.
