JUST REMEMBER THE NAME plays with ideas of identity, recognition, and the traces we leave behind. Whether connected to a person, a place, a feeling, or a moment in time, the phrase suggests something worth holding onto, even when the details themselves may become blurred.
Some experiences pass through our lives unnoticed, while others stay with us long after the details have faded. We may forget the conversations, the places, or even the reasons why something mattered, but certain names, moments, and feelings have a way of resurfacing and demanding to be remembered.
Like all of my work, this piece began without a plan. There were no sketches, no predetermined outcome, and no clear destination. Instead, the composition developed instinctively through layers of colour, texture, and geometric forms. Each mark informed the next, allowing the painting to grow organically and find its own direction. I work this way because I enjoy the freedom it brings. There are no rules or expectations to follow, just a process of responding to what is happening on the canvas and trusting where it leads.
Ultimately, the painting is an invitation to pause and look closely. To follow the pathways, uncover the details, and find your own connection. I don’t offer a fixed narrative or a definitive meaning. Instead, I create a space where memories, thoughts, and personal interpretations can surface naturally, making each viewing a unique experience.
