JUST LOOK A LITTLE DEEPER is an exploration of what exists beneath the surface. In a world where first impressions often shape our opinions, this piece encourages a more considered approach, reminding us that there is usually more to discover if we take the time to look.
Like all of my work, this painting developed without a predetermined plan. There were no sketches or fixed ideas, just a process of instinctive mark-making and responding to what was happening on the canvas. Layer by layer, the composition gradually revealed itself, finding its own balance between structure, movement, and spontaneity.
The geometric pathways create a sense of order, guiding the eye through the painting, while layers of colour, texture, and fragmented calligraphy remain partially concealed beneath the surface. Some details reveal themselves immediately, while others take time to emerge, rewarding a closer look and a slower pace of observation.
Ultimately, this painting is an invitation to pause and look a little deeper. To move beyond what is immediately visible and discover the layers, memories, and meanings hidden within. I don’t offer a fixed narrative or definitive interpretation. Instead, I create a space where curiosity and personal reflection can shape each viewer’s experience in their own way.
